Art Luna, a Landscape Designer, began his garden career out of necessity. His frustration at not being able to hire someone to create a suitable garden space in the courtyard of his world-famous hair salon led him to take on that project himself. As the courtyard began to take shape, Art’s hair clients asked him to work on their gardens, and Art realized that the techniques of shape, proportion, and line used in the salon translated to a larger scale in garden design.
In just a few short years, Art’s commissions have grown to a full-scale garden design business with clients on both coasts. Through his membership in the Royal Oak Foundation, Art has traveled extensively throughout the gardens of England. These travels have helped him hone his garden design aesthetic, melding the classic structure of European gardens with a casual California sensibility.
Whether the project is large in scale or smaller and more intimate, his philosophy remains the same – “structure first and flowers second”.
